Club Rules

  1. CLOTHING:

    A reasonable standard of accepted tennis attire to be worn at all times.

  2. FOOTWEAR:

    Correct tennis footwear to be worn at all times. No running shoes, sandals or ripple sole shoes can be worn.

  3. KEYS:

    Keys may be purchased at a cost of $15.00 on payment of subscription for MEMBERS USE ONLY. They MUST NOT be lent to any other person, including family and friends.

  4. GUESTS:

    Members are permitted to invite guests to play, but NOT on a regular basis. If they play more than three times, they must become a member and pay a members subscription.

  5. VISITORS FEE:

    A fee of $5.00 per person is payable by guests or visitors. They must be accompanied by a member, unless prior permission is obtained from the Club Captain. Members are responsible for collecting this fee and placing in the HONESTY BOX provided.

  6. FOOD NO EATING OR SMOKING:

    Eating, especially chewing gum or smoking is prohibited on the courts. No glass bottles or glasses to be taken on court.

  7. BEHAVIOUR:

    No swearing on the courts or in the club house please,especially when representing Edendale during interclub competitions.

  8. ETIQUETTE:

    If members are waiting to use the courts, persons playing singles should vacate the courts or play doubles. Common sense and courtesy should prevail and members should not let other members wait for more than half an hour before vacating the court.

  9. NO.5 GROVE RD.
    Under no circumstances go on to the property at no.5 to retrieve your tennis ball.


LEADBEATER TOURNAMENT

Progressive Handicapping
Drawn partners, Mixed doubles.
First to Nine Games, Tiebreaker at Eight all.
The toss of a coin will determine which players have the choice of service or ends.If the winner of the toss chooses service the other players may choose ends.
Starting at zero and playing a normal tennis game the players winning the first game go back to -15 for the next game.If the same players win the next game they go back to -30 and keep on going back a point for each consecutive game they win until they lose a game at which stage they go forward a point. ie from -30 to -15 for the next game.There is no limit as to how far back players must go if they continue to win games. ie From zero, players winning six consecutive games will start the seventh game at -70 etc.

HYNES TOURNAMENT

Progressive Handicapping Similar to Leadbeater Tournament
Drawn Partners, Mixed doubles
Time Played:  45 Minutes each match       Change ends at 1 & 3 game
All games will be “sudden death”.No advantages will be played.If the score reaches deuce the non-serving players will dictate who is to receive the serve and the next point scored will decide the winner of that game.
First server will be determined by the toss of a coin.
The winners of the toss can choose either service or ends.
Start on the bell & finish on the bell
If the bell rings in the middle of a game that game is not scored
If the bell rings when a game deciding point has started that point is to be completed to end that game.
The winner of a match is decided by the most games won
If the game score is equal,the winner is decided by a first to 5 point tie-breaker
( no 2 point advantage)
Final – 1hr      Plate Final – 45 mins
A plate tournament is to be played with the first round losers


HANDICAP TOURNAMENTS

First To 61 Points: No Advantage Including Finals
Singles,Ladies and Mens Doubles,Mixed Doubles
Drawn Partners
The player or players with the most points required to reach 61: ie”the backmarker” has choice of serve or end. Five serves each .Change ends after every twenty points played.

JUBILEE TOURNAMENT

Progressive Handicapping  Similar to the Leadbeater Tournament
First to Seven Games,Tiebreaker at Six all
Drawn partners,  Mixed doubles
First server will be determined by the toss of a coin.
All games will be ” sudden death “. No”advantages” will be played. If the score reaches deuce the non-serving players will dictate who is to receive the serve and the next point scored will decide the winner of that game.
At least three sets of seven games will be played.
The players winning the most sets will be the tournament winners.
If two or more couples win the same number of sets a knockout tournament will be played. The finals being the first to nine games,a tiebreaker at eight all.


PLATE TOURNAMENT

Only players who have not won a tournament in the current season may enter.
First to Seven Games, Tiebreaker at Six all
Drawn Partners, Mixed Doubles
Progressive Handicapping as per Jubillee Tournament

Tournament Rules

At least two committee members plus one inter club committee member to make out the draw and do the handicapping. Two committee members to be responsible for the running of each tournament. Both committee members should be at the courts at all times throughout the tournament to adjudicate on any contentious matters.

New balls to be used at the beginning of each tournament and to be changed only if they become too badly worn.Tournament supervisors only to decide if new balls are required. New balls to be supplied for each final.

Umpires are to be optional except for finals where the games must be umpired.

Where no umpires are used, only the player or players receiving the ball may decide if a ball is in or out of the court.

Players must be ready to commence play at the time designated by the tournament organisers.

A player who wishes to leave the premises during a tournament must seek the permission of the tournament supervisors and be given a time in which to return.

Any player who is more than fifteen minutes late in being ready to commence their match on the court at the designated time either at the start of the day or returning to the premises will be defaulted.

A player must be available to play a match no more than thirty minutes on the court ready to play after the previous game if required.

In a tournament where sets are played a player may be entitled to no more than a ten minute break between the second and third set if required.

All tournaments must be completed on their set day. Only adverse weather or daylight conditions may change this.

All games to be played in accordance with the rules of The International Tennis Federation.
